Its been a while since I've caught up with T, W, M & A so I really wanted to go somewhere special. Our original plan was dinner at Din Tai Fung and then drinks afterwards. Upon arriving at DTF we noticed a MASSIVE line outside. In fact there was a line to get a number to line up. Seriously! Since we didn't want to wait an hour we decided to go to Chef's Gallery instead.

Chef's Gallery has been opened for sometime now and is a very popular dining spot.

If you get a window seat you can see some of the chefs in action, hand making noodles and dumplings with ferocious accuracy and skill. I also like how they wear white uniforms with hats- gives off a very 'clean' impression.

Zha Jiang Noodles ($13.90)

Handmade egg noodles with finely minced pork & dried bean curd sauce

All mixed up! Very yummy and saucy

Chef's own golden snowflake chicken ($14.90)

Lightly crumbed chicken fillet, very crispy, tender and moist served with noodle in a pumpkin soup

If this sounds strange, trust me- it is. I was a bit hesitant to try this at first (I mean noodles in pumpkin soup??) but its actually quite good. The chicken is coated with very fine breadcrumbs and very very tender. It also wasn't too oily.

Fried Rice ($14.90)

We actually ordered two fried rice dishes but I only took a photo of one. This one here is the Wok fried medium grain rice with 3 kinds of eggs (chicken, salted duck and century egg). I really liked this fried rice, I think I was so preoccupied eating it that I forgot to take a photo of our other rice! Shame about the presentation though.. the rice is supposed to be in an upside down bowl shape.

By the way 'century egg' is often also known as 'thousand year old egg'. The egg is supposed to taste like its been preserved for thousands of years.. hence the blackish colour.

We also ordered the wok fried medium grain rice with prawns and diced chinese olives which I assume is good as it was nearly finished before I got to try any.

Prawn and pork wontons in a shanghainese spicy sauce ($9.90)

Again, shame about the presentation. The kitchen must have been in a hurry because everything is sort of just thrown together in the bowl. Very nice though, recommended.

Lightly pan fried prawn dumplings, using Australian jumbo prawns wrapped in pastry (12.90)

The best way to eat these dumplings is to dip them in vinegar & soy sauce. Delish.

Seafood pancake served with a creamy lime sauce ($12.90)

I will admit this is probably one of the worst photos I have taken in a long time. The dish comes with four servings and I only remembered to take a photo after someone ate one. But A thought it would be 'better' to have an even number of servings so ate ANOTHER one =(. Hence why the plate looks so empty.

I thought this was okay.. Its not really a 'pancake'. To be honest it tasted like seafood on deep fried toast served with mayonnaise.

And ofcourse.. the dessert

Steamed sesame 'piggy face' buns ($7.90)

A family of piggys

Piggy slowly being eaten..

All in all, it was a great experience. Surprisingly cheap because we also had a bottle of wine and some drinks and the bill worked out to be $25 each. Would definitely recommend :)
